"Give It Up" is a song by American disco group KC and the Sunshine Band,[iii] although it was simply credited as KC in many countries, including the Usa. Following the backlash against many disco artists on the charts at the first of the 1980s, the vocal was a comeback hitting for the deed in the US. Epic Records refused to release information technology; however, the contained Meca Records label showed its support and the vocal peaked at No. xviii on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1984. The song had been an even bigger striking in the UK several months before, where it had hit No. 1 on the United kingdom Singles Chart for three weeks in August 1983.[4] Information technology went on to become the 18th best-selling unmarried of the year in the UK. Information technology was the final of the band's hits in the US and UK, and the nigh successful of its 10 UK hits. The song as well went to No. 2 in Belgium. No. three in Australia and meridian 10 in several other countries.

In 1993, Danish grouping Cutting 'N' Move scored a big hit with their version of "Give Information technology Upwardly", which went to number-one in Commonwealth of australia and Denmark.

In 1993, "Give It Upward" was covered past Danish Eurodance group Cut 'N' Motion, released as the offset single from their 2d album, Peace, Love & Harmony (1993). Their version was very successful in several countries betwixt 1993 and 1994, selling over one million copies. Information technology is sung past singers Zindy Laursen and Thera Hoeymans. The rap part is performed by MC Zipp (a.grand.a. Jens Kjær Larsen). A colorful music video was produced to promote the single. Cutting 'North' Move covered the vocal once more in 1997 for Dancemania Covers.

In 1998, the song was covered by Québécois singer Jacynthe, both equally a solo encompass version, one in French, and ane as a collaboration with K.C. himself.

The song was covered by Captain Jack on their 2003 album, Party Warriors.

It was covered past the German pop band beFour on their 2008 album, We Stand up United.

It was covered by Annie Lennox and Chrissie Hynde during a live performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on February 9, 1986.[43]

"Love You Long Fourth dimension" by The Black Eyed Peas, from their 2010 album, The Beginning, contains a sample of "Give It Upwards".[44]

  • The song has been turned into a sporting chant in the United Kingdom, especially at football games in England and Scotland.
    • For case, after Liverpool F.C. defeated Manchester United F.C. on 25 October 2021, Liverpool's travelling fans mocked under pressure Manchester United director Ole Gunnar Solskjær by singing "Ole's at the Wheel" to the tune of Give It Up.[45] [46]
  • A version of the song is also sung by the Burbling Army for England batter Alastair Cook, with the words "Ali, Ali Cook" replacing "Baby, Give it up". For the terminal few overs of twenty-four hours 4 of Cook's final test match at The Oval (when he had only scored a farewell century), the song was sung continuously past the raucous crowd- led by Cook's friends in a hospitality box.
  • The song is heard in Richmond Valentine's lair when Valentine activates the V-Twenty-four hour period plan in Kingsman: The Surreptitious Service.[47]
  • The song is the walk-on music of professional darts actor Vincent van der Voort.
  • The song played in the background of a television advert for Old Navy during the late 1990s.
  • The vocal was performed past the Filipino ring Channels on Swallow Bulaga! and Oh No! It's Johnny in 1998.
  • The vocal was chanted by Braehead Clan fans in their appreciation of netminder Kyle Jones.
  • The song is chanted by Manchester United supporters in their appreciation of Nicky Butt.
